22-0829: Jesus is Messiah who is worthy to be served that His Name might spread and bless all peoples. Matthew records a series of miracles that show Jesus compassion for people and power, but most importantly, reveal Jesus as the Messiah. In this passage, Jesus takes a meager portion measured to feed a boy and blesses it to satisfy the multitude of thousands. The feeding of the 5,000 is one of the most well-known of all Jesus’ miracles. It is the only one recorded in all four gospels. And by this miracle Jesus reveals to the crowd, as Matthew records, that He is God. And as He often does, Jesus uses the opportunity to teach His disciples a deeper lesson about serving His Kingdom to bless others.
