23-1029: Generosity flows from a heart that weighs its giving by the promise of God’s all-sufficient grace above one’s personal need. When Jesus teaches on generosity He uses a most unlikely model, a poor widow. Knowing that the total amount of her gift was incomparably less than anyone else’s, Jesus stated that her gift was greater than all the others combined because of the source of her gift. All the others gave out of their abundance; she gave out of her poverty. When they walked away they did not wonder where the day’s provisions would come from. When she walked away, all she had was God. Jesus looked at the source of each gift, the heart, to determine its true value. In this message, Pastor Lane teaches four lessons that empower our generosity from the heart by God’s promise of grace. We pray this message helps and encourages.
