22-1113: Jesus is the Sovereign King who calls Christians out of spiritual slumber to walk in His righteousness before the world. Jesus’s words to Sardis are short but poignant, hard to hear and surely shocking to the people. What they thought was true of themselves was not, Jesus said, and if they did not wake up then He would come in judgment. The church at Sardis had built a reputation, but it was a counterfeit reality our nominal Christianity. Reputation makes it easy to construct a counterfeit identity where people hide their true self, and this is most easily done in relationship with God. In this message, Pastor Lane reminds the hearer of three words for Christians to reject a reputation and live by our confession in Jesus Christ. We pray this message helps and encourages.
