Compromised: The Church At Pergamum Revelation 2:12-17

22-1030: Jesus is the Righteous Judge who calls His people to repent of sinful compromise and live as faithful witnesses. The third city of Revelation, Pergamum, was known for its polytheism, and a landscape filled with temples and altars to all kinds of gods. The religious practices of these false gods were filled with every kind of immoral indulgence and pleasure. Jesus, the Righteous Judge, calls the church to repent of their compromise and live as faithful witnesses. And he does so because His promise is better than any the other religions can offer. Compromise is a process motivated by personal benefit or gain, initiated through a pattern of thinking that culminates in choices made and produces an unhelpful, and undesirable end. It is motivated by self-centeredness, and advances by questions that justify personal desires. But most of all, it damages and destroys and it seldom exposed until it is too late. In this message, Pastor Lane identifies the process of compromise, how it originates and advances, and contrasts its deception against the promise of Jesus. We pray this message helps and encourages.
