Happiness is Christmas

This was written by my grandmother, Oma Mason. I spent the first 25 Christmases of my life celebrating among my family at her home on Christmas Eve. Nanny’s house on Christmas Eve remains the warmest Christmas memory of my life, faith, family and fun! I pray this short writing warms your heart and spirit this Christmas season.

The shining, glimmering trees and lights that beckon from windows, doorways, and roof-tops; the sound of carols floating through the air and the tingle of the Salvation Army bell on the street corner; busy shoppers hurrying to and fro, laden with gayly wrapped packages; the happy laughter of children, enhanced by eager faces anticipating a visit from Santa; fond memories of Christmases gone by, shared with friends and loved ones —

All these and many more remind us of the joys of the season.

But true happiness comes from within; and empty hearts or cluttered hearts do not honor the Christ of Christmas. There was no room for Him in the inn. Is there room for Him in your heart this Christmas?

Let us adore Him whose birth we celebrateLet us crown Him King and Lord of our livesLet us bow down and worship Him, and give him a permanent dwelling place within our hearts.

Then we can keep Christmas, not just for a day, but for always.

May yours be a blessed Christmas, indeed.

~Oma Mason
