I would like to introduce you to Brent Fletcher, our most recent candidate for eldership at LifePoint Church. Brent has been with LifePoint since its inception almost ten years ago, and over two years ago, he expressed a calling to pursue eldership. The pathway to eldership is a two year process involving theological training, an eldership study, and a season of public observation involving serving among our church body. The elders of LifePoint Church believe Brent Fletcher to be called to and qualified for eldership as well as competent as a leader.
Brent and his wife Amy have two children, Elana and Caleb. Brent works as a licensed counselor, providing wisdom and encouragement to many people.
Brent grew up being raised to be a “good person,” but he didn’t experience the truth of the gospel until later in life. Reading the Bible for himself he realized that being a Christian means so much more than just doing the right things; it’s about one’s core identity and their heart for God. By God’s grace he came to believe that Jesus alone could save him, and he has enjoyed God’s grace since then. Brent feels called to continue serving LifePoint through eldership.
As covenant members of LifePoint Church, you are responsible for the last phase of his eldership candidacy: public examination. This is a season over the next six weeks where you are encouraged to do the following:
- Make sure you know him and can follow his leadership.
- If there is an issue, contact myself or an elder with your specific issue of concern.
- Be prepared to affirm his installation on March 2.
As Brent is preparing to serve our body as an under-shepherd, it is important that you seek God’s guidance in determining if he is called and qualified to fill such a role.
