Easter Impact: Let Us Draw Near

mlh-easter

I love the Easter season. It is always a busy time of year. The first sign of spring at my house is the wild cherry tree in my back yard as it fills with cotton white blooms. Life springs anew.

As a pastor, there is another reason I love this season. I love to be among the church for Easter. God works in such powerful ways during this time of year. Our attention is piqued as we remember and celebrate the saving work of Christ in his death and resurrection. Another attention that always seems to be piqued at Easter is the receptiveness of people to talk about Jesus and the gospel.

LifePoint’s first Easter season arrived six months into our public launch. Our desire was to plan a special celebration without creating a “circus act production,” as is too often the case among churches today. We made a decision that first Easter that we still follow today. LifePoint celebrates Easter with the same intensity, passion, and excitement of worshiping Jesus that we strive for every week coupled with an intentional equipping of our people to reach out into their sphere of influence and share the gospel. We believe the most exciting aspect of Easter is the power of Jesus’ resurrection. What greater words could be heard than, “He is not here. He is risen.”

We want LifePoint to impact the lives of people with the gospel this Easter season. Two simple tools have been provided to initiate this gospel labor. A bookmark is the first tool. It highlights our Night of Worship entitled “Let Us Draw Near” on Good Friday, March 29. We will direct our lives to remember the cross of Christ, believe in the power of his blood, and serve the gospel.

The other side of the bookmark instructs each Christ-follower in how to engage in gospel labors during the month of March. We ask every person to write three names of family, friends, neighbors, associates, or co-workers. Pray for these people throughout the month. Plan a way to engage and share the gospel, maybe share over a meal or coffee. The point is to be intentional about sharing the gospel with them during this time. Finally, we want to invite them into life together. Our desire is more than attending a service. We want to introduce them to a community where God is alive, actively saving, and redeeming by the power of Holy Spirit.

The second tool is a coaster (of sorts). This simple round card is to be shared with each person that you are praying for as an invitation. It can be used to invite others as well. All contact information for LifePoint Church is included on one side and the service times for Easter Sunday on the other side.

I love celebrating Easter with my LifePoint family. I would love for you to join us this year. As a matter of fact, come early…we gladly welcome you!
