Base Camp Global mission training, March 22-23

mlh-africa

I am excited to share an upcoming global mission training event called Base Camp I that LifePoint is hosting March 22-23, 2013.

Base Camp is a training and networking conference to equip churches to engage mission in sub-Saharan Africa. The training includes great opportunities to hear testimonies of God’s work and pick up practical suggestions and new ministry techniques. Typical workshop seminars include training in discipleship, leadership training; cultural insights and more.

Check out more information here: http://www.imbafrica.org/indaba/. I encourage you to explore the people groups, listen to the stories and testimonies, and begin to pray for this time.

“Shouldn’t this training be for those who are called to go on mission globally?”

This is a great question, and LifePoint is laboring to address this issue. Our scriptural mandate to make disciples is not limited to a “professional class” of pastors, ministers, or missionaries. The Great Commission is given to the church, the whole body of Christ. Mission is at the core of LifePoint’s vision and strategy because we believe Scripture is clear: God is a missionary God. He has a people (the Church) for his mission. Since our beginning LPC has labored to engage in global missions. This will be a large step in developing our strategy. Let me share what I’m praying God will do among us during this time.

We labor for fruit that lasts.

I’m praying for three specific goals (fruit) to be accomplished through this conference.

  1. I’m asking God to grow in LifePoint “a heart that looks more like God’s heart for the nations.” I can think of no greater compliment of praise unto God. May we be known as a people who are passionate about dying to self so Christ can shine more gloriously through us.
  2. I want LifePoint to be equipped and trained in principles and strategies to engage mission more effectively and faithfully, “neighbor to nation.” You know my heart burns for us to impact our city with the gospel. My heart yearns for a greater impact among the nations and global engagement. The principles we learn will make us stronger and wiser to engage mission near and far.
  3. I want LifePoint to be characterized by a culture that cultivates sending. Every LifePointer should be personally engaged in mission, neighbor to nation, to pray, give, and go. And some who “go” will leave to go to the nations. This is not new to LifePoint, but the soil must be constantly prepared for the harvest to grow.
This is exceptional training that we are privileged to receive. Other churches will participate in this training. I’m hoping many LifePointers will fill the room.
God is working in amazing ways among our church. He is calling LifePointers to join him among the nations. They are his people. He has entrusted them to our stewardship. Let’s be the church that sacrifices to send people to the nations.
